Service terms
Terms of Service
The operating terms for using OPTAX, including the Financial Center workspace, preparation-package boundary, user responsibilities, billing, refunds, and legal consent records.
1. Introduction
OPTAX is an AI-native Financial Center for owner-managed companies. The current live service begins with Canadian financial and T2 preparation workflows. These Terms describe the current public service boundary for the OPTAX website and product workflow.
Product flows may request or record separate confirmations only when a specific action requires them, such as registration, bank connection, checkout, or tax sign-off.
2. Service Description
The OPTAX platform is an AI-native Financial Center for owner-managed companies. Its current Canadian capabilities include:
- Financial record organization and evidence-backed readbacks
- Period review, source coverage, and operating review prompts
- Review-ready T2 preparation package generation
- Verified calculations where supported by the workflow
- Review prompts, assumptions, and open questions for user review
- Workspace status, review notes, and package readback
Where a capability requires a separate confirmation, the product flow displays that confirmation at the point of action and records the applicable consent receipt.
3. Important Disclaimers
โ ๏ธ OPTAX is NOT a licensed accounting firm or tax professional. The Service provides computational assistance and educational information only.
AI-Generated Content: The OPTAX platform uses artificial intelligence to organize records, summarize evidence, produce review prompts, and generate reports. AI outputs may contain errors. You are solely responsible for reviewing all outputs before you or your authorized representative submit anything to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
No Professional Advice: Nothing in the Service constitutes legal, tax, or accounting advice. Consulting a licensed CPA or tax professional is recommended for complex matters.
Current CRA Filing Boundary: The current standard flow generates a T2 PDF preparation package for manual review and user-controlled filing. OPTAX does not submit returns through a CRA filing channel. The corporation or its authorized representative completes filing through a separate compliant channel.
4. User Responsibilities
When the Service is used, expected responsibilities include:
- Provide accurate and complete information
- Review all financial readbacks, generated reports, and package materials before filing with the CRA
- Maintain the security of your account credentials
- Comply with all applicable Canadian tax laws and regulations
- Not use the Service for fraudulent or illegal purposes
5. Subscription & Billing
Pricing, trial, billing-authorization, filing-credit, and refund details are shown on the Pricing page and, where enabled, in checkout or account flows before a charge is authorized. See the Refund Policy for current product details.
6. Legal Consent Records
Consent version, timestamp, account, privacy-preserving request evidence, and workflow metadata may be recorded for security, billing, compliance, and audit purposes. See the Privacy Notice for data handling.
7. Intellectual Property
The OPTAX service โ including its content, features, and functionality โ is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Ownership and licensing of the Service are handled through the service terms and product-specific notices shown before use.
You retain ownership of all data you upload to the Service. By uploading, you grant a limited license to process your data solely for providing the Service.
8. Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, your use of the Service is at your own risk, and you remain responsible for reviewing all outputs before you or your authorized representative submit anything to the CRA.
Additional limits apply only when the relevant product flow displays them or records the applicable consent.
9. Governing Law
This public Terms page does not name a governing-law jurisdiction. Any jurisdiction-specific dispute terms must be shown in writing before they are relied on for paid use.
For Canadian users, nothing in these Terms affects your rights under the applicable consumer protection laws of your province of residence.
10. Changes to Terms
Material updates are posted on this page by changing the effective date. Product flows may also request renewed consent where a change affects billing, bank data, or account use.
